Arabica coffee futures slid 5.1% to $3.657 per lb, while robusta coffee fell 4.8% at $5,128 a ton. Dealers said worries over demand are growing in coffee and that the Trump tariffs come at a time when roasters are already facing pushback in their bid to pass on near-record prices to retail stores in the world’s largest coffee consuming nation - business recorder

Itau BBA: After a period of well-distributed rainfall in December and January, Brazil's main coffee-producing regions faced irregular rainfall and high temperatures in February and the first half of March. This situation could affect the filling of the current crop's beans, cause scalding of leaves and fruits, and compromise the development of crops for the next cycle. “In 2024, the rains in the Arabica and Conilon regions stopped in March, followed by up to seven months of drought, with rainfall only returning in October. The big question now is whether this pattern will repeat itself or whether the drought will be shorter, which will be decisive for the condition of crops in the spring, the flowering period,” explains Cesar de Castro Alves, manager of Itaú BBA's Agro Consulting. The bank's projection for the 2025/26 harvest indicates a 10% drop in Arabica coffee production, which should fall from 45.4 million to approximately 41 million bags. Robusta coffee is expected to grow 12%, reaching a record 23.5 million bags. As a result, Brazil's total production should reach 64.4 million bags, a 3% drop compared to the previous cycle.

In the global scenario, this result could tighten the balance between supply and demand. Currently, the 2024/25 harvest presents a surplus of 6.8 million bags, but the projection for 2025/26 points to a possible deficit of 400 thousand bags, assuming that production in other countries remains stable. Another factor of uncertainty is global consumption. The 3% growth estimated by the USDA for 2024/25 may not be repeated due to the impact of price pass-through to the end consumer. If demand slows, the projected deficit could turn into a slight surplus of 3 million bags, still below the surplus recorded in the current cycle.

Wow 41m bags is way more than Volcafe predicted of 34.4m bags. That is very bearish news! Anything above Volcafes prediction is good news

Looking to see how the narkets open in asia on monday, but follow through is a huge reality but for coffee the correction up back to average could be tasty. Lots of generic market trackers will have got closed at the end of last week. Looking to place a seperate correction trade, but not yet, need to see how the markets settle. Lots if mechanical trading positions got triggered at the end of Friday

In the South of Minas Gerais there are several reports of fruit being stolen from the plant, and the worst is when it is ripe.

SÃO PAULO (Reuters) – Brazil’s total coffee harvest for 2025/26 is estimated at 64.5 million 60-kg bags, down 1.7% from the previous projection, considering weather problems, according to figures released on Thursday by consultancy StoneX. The revised estimate, initially released in November last year, was made after the StoneX team returned to the field in 2025 to check coffee plantations in the main producing regions. “The downward adjustment in Arabica coffee is linked to the negative impacts of the weather on the regions, especially in São Paulo,” StoneX analyst Fernando Maximiliano said. He also mentioned some problems in southern Espírito Santo, Matas de Minas and southern Minas Gerais to Reuters. (Reporting by Roberto Samora)

Worthy of note is the fact that StoneX published its revised view after March rains took place and having all current forecasts in place. :)
