Someone took a nice bite out of ICE stock while the queue dwindled. A change in trend?

Barchart: "Coffee prices Tuesday closed sharply lower after updated weather forecasts called for rain next week in Brazil's coffee-growing regions, easing drought concerns and fueling long liquidation in coffee futures." UFF. Fortunately all the trouble is gone, it's supposed to rain. Even 2mm as far as I could see. One day! ;)

More rain, more grains on the ground, less coffee for export. We can wait a little longer without rain, the harvests will be fast this year :(

For the spike we have to wait for the catalyst: it can be admittance of a real reduction (Brazil, Vietnam, Globally), real drop in export on stagnant/decreasing stocks at destinations, weather or some combination of those. ( This specific La Nina is still a wild card due to current sub-conditions . Some w-guys say it may be ON already in August...) There is a saying, popular for ages among grain traders: small crops get smaller, big crops get bigger ! The Saying is, in fact, very accurate as it reflects impossibility to calculate correctly at earlier stages, but assumes that major factor, known before or at the beginning of the harvest prevails and affects the crop in the same direction... :) :) :)

Cepea: However, according to Cepea researchers, the yield of the harvested crops is below what was expected for a positive biennial harvest. According to agents consulted by Cepea, the grains that have arrived for classification and testing have a low percentage of sieves (17/18). This factor can hinder the fulfillment of contracts already established, as it limits the formation of lots.

One more confirmation without evaluations as of yet. Would CEPEA make comments if the problem wouldn't be widespread and of some real degree ? (Unlikely 1mb reduction would cause such a reaction from all major media and institutions. Crop, not better than 23/24 would reflect 3mb reduction and zero paper :) surplus for 24/25 in USDA terms. As problem was very uniform, as soon as Brazil will officially confirm it, all affected origins will be assumed.)

ES, Cooabriel: "We are having a lower quality compared to harvest 23, both in sieve and in coffee purity because the beans were formed in a non-uniform way, which makes processing a little more difficult for the producer".

It was from NA and about R, if anything. Cooabriel was expecting possible drop since the end of last year and this was kinda confirmation of it. No numbers yet... Thus, R is not immune to high temps and effect is same as A had shown. :) If to assume that Vietnam was affected in the same or a bit heavier way, what projection for Vietnam would be right for now ? If ES will come to a 10% number (1.6mb) somehow, for Vietnam it will mean 2.9mb reduction in USDA terms. CA+M altogether ? Would look like 2mb... A, Brazil ? Would look like 2mb - all very conservative views, nothing out precedents... In total: 1.6+2.9+2+2=8.5, add all other affected small producers = 10mb. :) :) :). And this not including cup factor, which matters for ICE KC. Consider that 10mb are 7mb to be more conservative. This is ECF stocks figure...

Clarification: I was based on the fact, that statement / We are having a lower quality compared to harvest 23/24 / means yield is lower :) :) :).

Brazil is losing steam because many containers are waiting on the trucks outside the port of Santos. There are 2/3 weeks delays on the loading.

Is todays situation: low ICE stocks, screen size concerns in Brazil, poor Vietnam R crop, logistic problems etc. really as bad or worse than previous droughts/frosts etc that have caused similar rallies in the past (2010/2011, 2014, 2021/2022 etc)?
