If the nickname for Natural Gas is "The Widowmaker" I wonder what the right terminology for Cocoa would be right now ^^

compared to last few days there is much less buying happening in early hours, the tempo is slowing, get ready to consolidate for some time and pick a side

Peak of first retracement around 9473 taken out early (many stop losses of bears shorting from 8400 and buy stops for gap fill) and now down we go I guess.

Exactly... let's be real here... global demand 4.8 mil tons, global supply currently projected 5.5mil but real 4.5... so down 7-8% like so many years before. It's all about hype to drag money in and profit froim it.

So many poor people in Nigeria and other countries are now changing crops, cause cocoa yields so much more... I would actually feel sorry for them if price will crash back down, cause all those investment and adjustments will be useless.

That`s to pessimistic .... I guess the new fair price will be around 8.000 ... And this is a good price, if the farmers get their part from it

"Unfavorable growing conditions and crop disease on West African farms over the past year have curbed cocoa production and fueled a parabolic rally in cocoa prices. A global cocoa deficit is expected to extend into 2023/24 since current production is insufficient to meet demand." as you see the macro didn't change at all, so i believe we are up for a third big wave

There's nothing priced in. People only read 'Ivory Coast' and something like 'down by 30%' (and they read it already for the 10th, 20th or 30th time), then buying like crazy, as if the world were coming to an end. Stupid.

And another one: "Monday's government data showed Ivory Coast farmers shipped 1.12 MMT of cocoa to ports from October 1 to February 18, down -33% from the same time last year." https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/cocoa-prices-soar-to-record-highs-as-ivory-coast-cocoa-production-plummets

https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/cocoa-prices-finish-sharply-higher-ivory-coast-cocoa-production-shrinks if you guys look at the forecast for the production of cocoa this year the uptrend doesn't seem to be over in fact we could see a bigger rally, rain come and go, that makes the noise not the trend and right now until the chain of supply is fixed we are poisened to go up up, look at coffee robusta which has a very similar chart, already recovered the sharp april fall and hit the high of the year again...

It takes a lot of time to dig into all these data and articles (including past ones), but... regarding the forecast for the production of cocoa: Did you mean the forecast of Cocobod for Ghana's cocoa harvest around 425ish MMT? They already announced these numbers on March 25th and you can read it in articles from April. So it's nothing new at all...

Or did you mean that price will even go much higher because of some side effects like rotten harvest, spreading diseases etc.? Okay, then you have a point of course.... :D

the point is, that price is pumped mostly because of dry weather, so this will change. Market is not too smart usually and way too emotional. So they see the rain and make -20% one day

algos and hedge funds have probably piled into cocoa real bad since the parabolic move, I doubt most transactions are by traders or even producers/consumers
