Newbie here looking for feedback.  The "Buffet" method of investing in stock index funds.  Would this ETF be a good choice as opposed to mutual funds that follow the S&P 500?  I have an online brokerage account and can execute the trades myself.  May possibly be looking to need the funds back in 1-2 years.  Just looking for a place to put some funds instead of sitting in a saving account.  Any reason I should go with a mutual fund instead of an ETF?  Thank you!!!

Yes, ETFs are more efficient and  will impact capital gains differently than a mutual fund, in particular a brokerage account, but if you are in an IRA or 401K it would not really make much difference.  For me passively managed (Index) type funds will out perform almost all managed funds, and be far less expensive to own.

two years is a short timeframe to invest in stocks because if there is a decline you will not have time to recover, you should have a longer timeframe, at least 5-10 years so if there is a decline you can keep your shares and allow them to recover. you'd better find a very short duration bind etf or a money market fund
