Morgan Stanley Mike Wilson: Volatility is going to increase much more between now and the election day and this time it is going to be even more than 2016 election. -- That is one great analysis by Mike Wilson Morgan Stanley. And we all know that investors don't like uncertainties and the US dollar is going to continue to increase its appeal as a safe haven asset. -- DXY at these low current levels is a STRONG BUY.

What is the benefit of buying dollar now if rates will not rise till 2023? Won't it be better to keep money in the currency with higher rates?

The Dxy index is currently calculated by factoring in the exchange rates of six major world currencies, which include the Euro (EUR), Japanese yen (JPY), Canadian dollar (CAD), British pound (GBP), Swedish krona (SEK), and Swiss franc (CHF). Weighted, the Euro is 57.6% of the  basket. Next is Yen at 13.6% and GBP at 11.9% So we look at Euro and we see dark clouds hovering, hence Dxy will fly. Simple as that.

Oil doesn't usually affect the dollar. The dollar affects oil. Oil went up today because inventory levels were surprisingly low.

Can be related if the raise keeps going because the would be inflationary signal.... but oil would need to keep move on that direction for a week or 2 if not more

If you go back to Sept 1st in the comments, might be a pain to look that far back. I repeated over and over to buy the dollar at 92 flat and hold for the long run. That is what I am personally doing. I am trying to help others out now that didn't get in then but still want to ride the bull wave either for a quick buck or for the long run. I certainly am not advising anyone to hold for 0.1% gain...

Mohamed, watch price now as it forms support. 93.20 is an important area. Let it test it a few times to prove it's solid then you will have confirmation of that area.

You guys have forgotten that dollar weakened in the last month because there was a possibility of negative interest rate. Now that that is out of the way with Feds saying no touching the  interest rate till 2023, but of course that can change, however the stock mkt has been burning high and is due for a major dump anyway. From now till the next meeting for Feds, dollar will be up to recover lost ground. In October, it will soften for stock mkt to rally in time for the election in Nov. After that, it will be risk off when the election euphoria drives stocks up for a week or two, and then the stock mkt will crash to 14k.

I agree with you about your reasoning and logic and hence the rise of the dollar through the end of the month. I can't say I agree about election because that is too uncertain. Once the dollar trades in the 95 - 96 range I will re-evaluate.

It's too bad I can't attach screenshots from previous posts....Just as we said earlier this morning the initial spike was down followed by crazy spikes back and forth and ultimately resolved to the upside. As we said, this is because the BAD NEWS was not AS BAD as traders anticipated it would be as the bar was set very low coming in to this event.
