You will see irrational swings in both directions until it settles and picks one. I expect an initial move down with a quick "V" like correction to the upside and follow through up for the remainder of the week. Of course I don't know what the guidance will be, but unless it isn't extremely pessimistic to the point traders are taken by surprise, I expect traders will brush it off and continue pushing the dollar higher.

Hyper Dollar  Ok. I respect your opinion even though I disagree, unless the news is just extremely surprising which at this point that seems unlikely (<20% chance if I had to give a percentage of odds). The news will be a pessimistic outlook for 2021 as the FED is always conservative especially Powell, but it shouldn't be any surprise to anyone. And on the chance that the news isn't AS BAD as people are expecting the dollar will skyrocket.

If you take a look at the economic data that has come out since Jackson Hole (last time FED spoke), unemployment went down 2%, manufacturing numbers very strong and showing clear signs of speedy recovery, Inflation data better than expected, consumer confidence showing positive trends up and other metrics that point towards a strong recovery. Hence I wouldn't be surprised if the forward guidance isn't AS BAD as traders are expecting.

Anna Kaliszewska  Exactly. Some folks don't understand this. They think passing stimulus just causes inflation and they also mistakenly think that inflation just causes the dollar to drop in value which is also false.

I've heard inverted head and shoulders and cup and handle patterns yet I see none of the technical indications or behavior of any of it. You guys may want to use the slow stochastics to let you know the peaks and valleys cause if you expect a close above the 20ema today .... NO AH AH AH lol

Historically speaking markets do NOT move much on the day of FOMC before the announcement. Expect a mean reverting market until then.
