Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Marine Transport, Machinery and Warehousing sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:5801), which rose 9.08% or 363.00 points to trade at 4,360.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. (TYO:5802) added 5.89% or 145.50 points to end at 2,615.00 and Kansai Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9503) was up 5.50% or 150.00 points to 2,877.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lasertec Corp (TYO:6920), which fell 3.19% or 1,390.00 points to trade at 42,220.00 at the close. Sharp Corp (TYO:6753) declined 2.86% or 27.20 points to end at 924.70 and Bandai Namco Holdings Inc (TYO:7832) was down 2.82% or 84.50 points to 2,915.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1917 to 1656 and 296 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.06% to 16.78.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.28% or 0.22 to $78.77 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.05% or 0.04 to hit $82.92 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.37% or 8.65 to trade at $2,343.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.00% to 156.85, while EUR/JPY rose 0.13% to 170.62.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 104.38.
