Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (EBR:UMI), which rose 2.07% or 0.30 points to trade at 14.77 at the close. Meanwhile, Elia (EBR:ELI) added 1.80% or 1.65 points to end at 93.20 and Aedifica (EBR:AOO) was up 1.70% or 0.95 points to 56.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UCB SA (EBR:UCB), which fell 1.58% or 2.20 points to trade at 136.85 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.07% or 0.26 points to end at 24.04 and Ageas (EBR:AGES) was up 0.51% or 0.22 points to 43.58.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 60 to 31 and 17 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.85% or 20.05 to $2,366.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.25% or 0.20 to hit $80.91 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.31 to trade at $85.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.34% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.09% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 105.26.
