Gaming Giant Konami Increases Staff for Web 3.0, Metaverse and NFT Marketplace Expansion

The Japanese gaming giant Konami is expanding its team of crypto experts. The company aims to increase the development of Web3 and metaverse-related content alongside a non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace, according to an official announcement.

Konami is Expanding its Web3 and Metaverse Development Team

According to the announcement released on today, the company will be recruiting a wide range of talent for system construction as well as service development.

The entertainment conglomerate and video gaming company has been developing ways to incorporate blockchain technology into their video games for some time already. Reportedly, it is currently aiming to launch a service where players could trade in-game items in the form of NFTs through a blockchain-powered distribution platform.

As stated in the announcement, Konami is currently looking for numerous members to join its team in infrastructure development, production and operations, and production support divisions. Some of the roles available include system engineer, programmer, producer, director, financial, and accounting.

On the Flipside

  • This is not the first time Konami has worked with blockchain technology and NFTs, as they have previously released Castlevania NFT Memorabilia to celebrate its 35th anniversary.
  • Konami is not the only traditional gaming company to adapt to the ever-changing landscape, as Capcom, their main competitor, has also tapped into the blockchain space alongside numerous other gaming companies.

Why You Should Care

GameFi and blockchain-related projects were previously mainly developed by new, upcoming startups and independent developers.

Major corporations and game publishers waited to see if they would succeed before being convinced that this was a lucrative business model.

With gaming giants such as Konami jumping into Web 3.0, the metaverse, and NFTs and creating this platform, not only will they expand to a new target demographic and player base, but the entire gaming industry could follow in their footsteps moving forward.
