The investment seeks to provide as high a level of current income as is consistent with the preservation of capital; capital appreciation is a secondary goal. Under normal circumstances, the fund invests at least 80% of its assets in bonds. Bonds include mortgage-related securities, asset-backed securities, government securities, and corporate debt securities. The fund may also invest up to 20% of its total assets in foreign-issued debt securities denominated in either the U.S. dollar or a foreign currency.
