The fund may invest a significant portion of its total assets in real estate investment trusts (REITs) and other similar REIT-like structures. It may invest in derivative securities, such as swaps, options, futures and options on futures, which are principally tied to the real estate industry, for hedging purposes and to seek returns on the fund's otherwise uninvested cash.
