Investment Strategy

The Fund aims to provide capital growth in excess of the Russell 2000 Lagged (Net Total Return) index (after fees have been deducted) over a three to five year period by investing in equity and equity related securities of small-sized US companies. The Fund is actively managed and invests at least 80% of its assets in equity and equity related securities of small-sized US companies. These are companies that, at the time of purchase, are similar in size to those comprising the bottom 20% by market capitalisation of the North American equity market. The Fund may invest in small-sized Canadian companies.

Biography Robert Kaynor, CFA, Portfolio Manager and Head of US Small and Mid Cap Equities of Schroders, has been involved with research and portfolio management at Schroders since 2013. He has managed the MainStay VP Schroders Mid Cap Opportunities Portfolio since 2024. Mr. Kaynor covers a variety of industries in the consumer, producer durables, and materials sectors. Mr. Kaynor joined Schroders as a Senior Equity Analyst for the U.S. Small and MidCap team in 2013 in which he covered the consumer sector. Kaynor was the Chief Investment Officer at Ballast Capital Management from 2010 to 2012, and prior to this, Mr. Kaynor was a Managing Director/Portfolio Manager for Ramius Capital Group.

Biography Jenny Jones is the Head of US Small and SMID Cap Equities at Schroders, which involves managing the US Small and SMID Cap Equities portfolios and leading the investment team. She joined Schroders in 2002 and is based in New York. Jenny joined Schroders in 2002 as Head of US Small Cap Equity and since joining, has built a strong team of six analysts who are solely dedicated to the Small and Smid Cap Strategies. She was the Manager of Morgan Stanley Special Value Fund at Morgan Stanley Investment Management from 1996 to 2002, which involved managing the Morgan Stanley Special Value Fund and later the Small & Mid Cap Strategy from inception. She was the Head of the Small Cap Value Department at Oppenheimer Capital, L.P from 1990 to 1996. She was a Portfolio Manager at Mutual of America Life Insurance Co from 1983 to 1990, it was in this role where Jenny was first given the opportunity to manage small cap assets and she remains focused on this area today. Qualifications: MBA from New York University; BA (Honors) from Yale University.
