Investment Strategy

The investment seeks maximum real return, consistent with prudent investment management. The fund seeks to achieve its investment objective by investing under normal circumstances in commodity-linked derivative instruments backed by a portfolio of inflation-indexed securities and other Fixed Income Instruments. "Fixed Income Instruments" include bonds, debt securities and other similar instruments issued by various U.S. and non-U.S. public- or private-sector entities. It may also invest in leveraged or unleveraged commodity index-linked notes.

Biography Greg Sharenow is Managing Director, PIMCO. Mr. Sharenow is a portfolio manager in the Newport Beach office, focusing on commodities, real assets, and inflation solutions. He has investment and financial services experience since 2000 and holds bachelor’s degrees in mathematical methods in the social sciences and in economics from Northwestern University. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Biography Nicholas J. Johnson is a managing director in the Newport Beach office and a portfolio manager focusing on commodity, quantitative and multi-asset strategies. In 2012 he co-authored “Intelligent Commodity Indexing,” published by McGraw-Hill. Biography Mr. Brynjolfsson is a Managing Director and portfolio manager. He is co-author of Inflation-Protection Bonds and co-editor of The Handbook of Inflation-Indexed Bonds. Mr. Brynjolfsson joined PIMCO in 1989, previously having been associated with Charles River Associates and JP Morgan Securities. He has twenty-one years of investment experience, and holds a bachelor's degree in physics and mathematics from Columbia College and an MBA in finance and economics from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
