He joined the firm in 2005 after eight years at Goldman Sachs, where he was managing director and head of the Taiwan office and prior to that, a member of both Goldman's equities principal strategies and private equity teams in Hong Kong. He began his career with Lazard Frères in 1995 as a financial analyst in mergers & acquisitions in New York. Howard obtained a B.A. summa cum laude in economics from Yale University.

During his time at Newbridge, Emerson worked in the Hong Kong, Singapore and San Francisco offices. Emerson began his career with Morgan Stanley in 1994 as a financial analyst in the mergers, acquisitions and restructuring department in New York. Emerson obtained his B.S. magna cum laude in Applied Mathematics and International Studies from Yale University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

Prior to joining Huaan, he was a senior financial analyst with the U.S. firm Chaffe & Associates and a research analyst with U.S. Global Investors.

Biography Frank is one of the most senior Chinese fund managers with over 25 years of global investment experience at three leading asset management companies in the US and Asia. He has been through six major market cycles and achieved superior long-term results for investors. Prior to founding FountainCap in 2014, Frank had worked for Capital Research under Capital Group for 12 years, with research and investment responsibilities primarily focusing on China software & Internet, conglomerates and consumers, as well as Asia oil & gas, refineries and petrochemicals. He was also a China generalist at Capital Research. Prior to Capital Group, Frank was the Greater China fund manager at Jardine Fleming Asset Management in Hong Kong (later acquired by J.P. Morgan Asset Management) from 1998 to 2002, and an analyst with Manning & Napier Advisors in New York from 1994 to 1997. From 1985 to 1990, Frank was an economic research analyst at the China’s State Planning Commission. He received a B.S. in Management Science from University of Science & Technology of China in 1985, and an MBA from University of Rochester, USA in 1994.

He was appointed Investment Manager of the Pacific Region Group in 1993, specialising in India sub-continent and the China Region.
