Investment Strategy

The investment seeks high total investment return through a combination of current income and capital appreciation. The fund will,under normal circumstances, invest at least 80% of its net assets (plus the amount of any borrowings for investment purposes) in fixed income securities. It may invest up to 65% of its total assets in securities of below investment grade securities (commonly known as “high yield securities” or “junk bonds”). The fund may invest in securities of any maturity and of any duration.

Biography Benjamin Caron, CFA, is Senior Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Newfleet Asset Management, LLC (since June 2011). From 2005 until 2011, Mr. Hooker was vice president, senior credit analyst at Aladdin Capital Management and Global Plus Investment Management, respectively, both of which specialize in high yield and structured credit products. Prior to 2005, he was at Goodwin for 12 years, serving in various capacities, including as a senior credit analyst and emerging markets sector manager on its fixed income team. Mr. Hooker earned a B.A. in psychology from Trinity College. He has held the Chartered Financial Analyst designation since 1999. He began his career in the investment industry in 1993.

In 2019, Dan was awarded the Outstanding Portfolio Manager Award at the US Morningstar Awards for Investing Excellence. In 2012, he received both the Institutional Investor Money Management Lifetime Achievement Award and the Lipper Excellence in Investing Award. In 2013, Dan received the CFA Society of Milwaukee Lifetime Achievement Award.

Biography Joe Gatz is a portfolio manager at Loomis, Sayles & Company, where he co-manages the Loomis Sayles Small Cap Value Fund, and the Loomis Sayles Small Cap Value and Small/Mid Cap Core strategies. In addition to his portfolio management responsibilities, Joe also maintains primary research coverage for several holdings within both strategies, with an emphasis on special situations, as well as industrials, healthcare and energy. He joined Loomis Sayles in 1999 as a mid cap value equity portfolio manager, and was promoted to lead the small/ extended/mid cap value team in early 2000. Prior to Loomis Sayles, Joe was a portfolio manager at Banc One Investment Advisors. He started his investment industry career at National Bank of Detroit (NBD). Joe earned a BA from Michigan State University and an MBA from Indiana University.

Biography Dan Thelen, a portfolio manager with the Advisor, has managed the Ancora/Thelen Small-Mid Cap Fund since its inception in 2013. He was responsible for the management of institutional client portfolios as well as expanding the asset base of Ancora’s Family of Mutual Funds. Dan began his career in the investment business in 1990 in Price Waterhouse’s Valuation Services Group where he performed private valuation analyses on spinoffs and divestitures for small to mid-size companies in a variety of industries.
