Investment Strategy

The investment seeks to generate current income consistent with preservation of capital. The fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in fixed-income securities. It invests significantly in fixed-income securities of non-U.S. companies. The fund normally invests in the fixed-income securities of companies located in at least three countries. It may invest in a broad range of fixed-income securities in both developed and emerging markets. The fund may invest across all fixed-income sectors, including U.S. and non-U.S. government and corporate debt securities.

Biography Paul DeNoon is Director of AB’s Global High Income and Emerging Market Debt strategies and a Partner of the firm. He leads the management of AB’s large global high-yield franchise, co-managing the firm’s award-winning High Income Fund, named “Best Fund over 10 Years” by Lipper from 2012 through 2015. DeNoon is also a Director, with Shamaila Khan, of AB’s Emerging Market Debt Portfolios, overseeing the management of emerging-market sovereign, quasi-sovereign and corporate debt strategies in both hard and local currencies. He is a member of the firm’s Emerging Market Multi-Asset Strategy Committee, Dynamic Asset Allocation Committee and the Municipal Impact Investment Policy Group. DeNoon is also the Partner overseeing the firm’s corporate responsibility, which includes responsible investment (environmental, social and corporate governance) and diversity and inclusion. He joined AB in 1992, and was instrumental in introducing some of the firm’s flagship emerging-market debt and global high-yield funds. Previously, DeNoon was a vice president in the Investment Portfolio Group at Manufacturers Hanover Trust and an economist in the bank’s Financial Markets Research Group, where he was primarily responsible for the analysis of monetary and fiscal policy. Biography Ivan Rudolph-Shabinsky, CFA Portfolio Manager—Credit Ivan Rudolph-Shabinsky is a Senior Vice President and Credit Portfolio Manager, focusing primarily on the Low Volatility High Yield Strategy and the Short Duration High Yield Fund on the Luxembourg-domiciled fund platform, designed for non-US investors. He is a member of the Credit and High Yield fixed-income portfolio-management teams, and a member of the internal Credit Research Review Committee, the primary investment policy and decision-making committee for all AB’s credit-related portfolios. Rudolph-Shabinsky joined the firm in 1992 as a portfolio manager, and managed the Stable Value and Inflation-Linked Bond strategies. He has held other leadership posts at the firm, including head of Product Development and head of Product Management. Rudolph-Shabinsky has also authored or co-authored a number of papers, including “Beyond Interest Rate Anticipation: Strategies for Adding Value in Fixed Income” (2000) and “Assigning a Duration to Inflation-Protected Bonds” (1999), both published in the Financial Analysts Journal. He also co-wrote “Managed Synthetics,” published in The Handbook of Stable Value Investments (1998), and “LDI: Reducing Downside Risk with Global Bonds” (2012), published in The Journal of Investing. Rudolph-Shabinsky has written many blogs highlighting the risks in bank loans and in high-yield CCC-rated bonds. Biography Mr. Kelleher, President, Chief Investment Strategist (Fixed Income) and Senior Portfolio Manager of the Adviser, joined the Adviser’s fixed income management team in 2009. In 2008, prior to joining the Adviser’s fixed income management team, Mr. Kelleher worked with M2Capital LLC to develop a distressed bank acquisition and asset management strategy. From 1999 to 2007, Mr. Kelleher worked as a senior vice president and portfolio manager for AllianceBernstein LP. He managed the firm’s mortgage and asset-backed investments as well as its mortgage hedge fund business and structured their securities arbitrage conduit and term financing facilities. He was a member of the firm’s six person Fixed Income Investment Committee. Prior to this, Mr. Kelleher managed the Passthrough Trading Desk at Deutsche Bank and Nomura Securities International and co-managed the CMO Trading Desk at Merrill Lynch. He founded Merrill Lynch’s efforts in mortgage-based interest rate swaps and started his career in risk management. Mr. Kelleher is a Chartered Financial Analyst and earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
