The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Composite Leading Indicators (CLI) Index measures overall economic health by combining ten leading indicators including: average weekly hours, new orders, consumer expectations, housing permits, stock prices, and interest rate spreads. It is designed to provide early signals of turning points between expansions and slowdowns of economic activity. The OECD compiles CLIs for 29 member countries, six for non-member economies and seven for country groupings such as the euro zone.
