Don't worry, it will sky rocket in coming days. Holding my view of 104 then 112. Gold and other commodities along with equity are going to hit rock bottom soon, and will make a new low in coming series.

Sorry but most foreigners don't understand the power the U.S. dollar holds during a global recession. It will skyrocket during it's deflationary period within the next year but then you're right, it will turn into toilet paper. But it's going to be a while before hyperinflation kicks in.

Im talking seriously. The previous crisis was solved just by printing more money. This time, they avoided the crisis by printing beforehand. Clearly not every country can do that. If mexico prints more money, the pesos devalues accordingly. If USA prints more money, the dollar does not depreciate at all. Plain and simple.

Last time interest rates were at 0.25 it was around 97 or so. On top of that now there are $700B more freshly printed for jp morgan and friends to borrow at pretty much no cost.

Last crisis the QE started post-facto. Now, the fed did QE before the tipping point of collapse. Powell is a genius.

I agree although I know a retrace could bring us back up to the 50ema near 99.48. In due time though, 98.36 will be next and then finally in the "great void" where no buyers and no support exist. ;)

I any case, the fact that we're making a triple-bottom 27 March, 14 Apr, and today, so long as it holds, is bullish for USD, in FUTURE.  as Ran Dee notes below: it's not whether USA is healthy, it's how fast the other 2 largest currencies (EUR and JPY) fall -- they both have EVEN MORE systemic problems than USA, as I listed a few, below.

question other than imports or exports does the "drop" in the USD effect PPP ? If you have low inflation and I hold 1m in cash and the Treasury prints 5B is it still worth 1M ?

something very interesting happened today. usually when the stock market tanks, the dollar soars. this made the US economy recession proof over the last ten years as a higher dollar allowed the US to lower interest rates and nurture the debt bubble. however, today, the stock market and the dollar tanked in tandem. bulls should think about this.

basic macro in four words supply demand credit debt simple a hole in either of them problems .every major company has debt issuances apple even with a massive positive cash flow . but let's say they have debt in Euros what would be needed to support that issuance if creditors sell off the bond ? .

looks like the consolidation is already over and the dollar is sailing towards 98.2, which is an extremely important support. if it can crash through 98.2 there is virtually little support anymore.

Pradeep Jaiin  there will be retracements like just now, yet the break of support has been spectacular. The US trade deficit is dramatically swelling, which draws the floor out of the dollar and will also support the INR. it is going quite fast now.
