Rates are set for 4.6% next year in 2023. At the moment, the rates for 1Y to 3Y are at 4.01% to 4.05%. 10Y is at 3.5% and 20Y is at 3.7%. So the question to ponder is, will fund managers buy bonds in large quantities right now if they can get better rates next year? If not, what are the consequences?

Currently the FED is overshooting their policy and frontloading aggressively. It might be that after 6 months the inflation picture changes and they stop hiking.. imo it will be the case and therefore it makes sense to buy bonds at these levels before FED starts to fleed the market with fresh money supply.

John Geilo  Personally I think they're sorta in a catch up situation. with 8%+ inflation the current 3.25% seems rather anemic... Though I do agree they are beginning to get serious, at least in attitude..

Mudassar Arafat Jobless claims is less relevant since the interest rate hikes have a time-lag to have an effect on jobs.. so todays data is worth nothing with except of the forever bulls who take it very serious.
