On today’s episode of the Tech Talk Tuesday podcast, Ryan McQueeney looks ahead to 2018 and highlights three private tech companies that he would like to see go public in the upcoming year.

The first company on Ryan’s IPO radar is Uber competitor Lyft. Launched in 2012, this San Francisco-based ride-hailing company sports a $10 billion valuation and partnerships with General Motors (NYSE:GM) , Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) , and others. What’s more, an IPO could give the market an opportunity to invest in ride-hailing without the drama that surrounds Uber (also read: Who Are Uber's Biggest Competitors?).

Next up, Ryan put the spotlight on Peter Thiel’s mysterious Palantir Technologies. Palantir is engaged in Big Data solutions and works closely with several branches of the U.S. government, providing products that help with antiterrorism and espionage. This inherently cloaks Palantir in confusion and curiosity, but with a $20 billion valuation, this company is one that Wall Street should take seriously (also read: Palantir's IPO Plans are Just as Secretive as the Company Itself).

Finally, Ryan discussed Airbnb, the innovative “sharing” company that threatens to dismantle the hotel industry as we know it. After its latest round of funding, Airbnb is sporting a $31 billion valuation. But does a new injection of cash mean that investors will have to wait longer for an IPO?
