Investment Strategy

To provide shareholders with investment growth in the medium to long term. The fund mainly invests in US corporate bonds. Specifically, the fund invests at least two thirds of total assets in debt securities that are issued by companies that are domiciled, or conduct the majority of their business, in the United States of America. In actively managing the fund’s portfolio, the management team selects securities that appear to offer superior investment opportunities.

Biography Shu-Yang Tan, CFA, is a Senior Portfolio Manager on the Global Credit team. He is part of the leadership team responsible for managing corporate credit across the group’s portfolios and is also a member of the Investment Policy and Credit Committees. In addition to managing portfolios, Shu-Yang also leads the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) investment efforts within the team and is responsible for its implementation. He is also charged with oversight of the team’s trading function. Biography Mr. Jacob is a Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager on the Global Credit team and also a member of the Investment Policy Committee. As the Co-Chair of the Credit Committee, Mr. Jacob is responsible for corporate credit investments across all the group’s portfolios as well as dedicated corporate investment grade, high yield and bank loan strategies. He joined the firm as a Portfolio Analyst for the Global Fixed Income team in February 2011. Biography Louis N. Cohen, CFA, is a Senior Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager for the Global Fixed Income Team. Lou joined MacKay Shields in 2004 and is a voting member of the Global Fixed Income Investment Policy Committee. His duties include being the lead portfolio manager for portfolios utilizing asset allocation strategies such as Core/Core Plus. In addition to managing Core Plus portfolios, Lou also manages leveraged loans and oversees all dedicated corporate portfolios. Lou has been with Dan Robert’s team since 1991 when he joined UBS Asset Management as a Core/Core Plus portfolio manager, where he also served as Director of Research and co-chaired the Credit Committee. Lou’s extensive credit experience began at Bankers Trust in 1978 in that firm’s Commercial Banking Department. In 1981, he moved to Kidder Peabody as a fixed income Credit Analyst. Prior to joining Dan at UBS Asset Management, he also served as a fixed income credit manager at several notable Wall Street firms, including Shearson, Drexel Burnham Lambert and Paine Webber. Lou received his BA and MBA from New York University and is a CFA charterholder. He is past President of the Capital Markets Credit Analyst Society and a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts. He has been working in the investment industry since 1978.

Biography Eric is the Head of the Global Credit team, Co-Head of the Credit Committee and a member of the Investment Policy Committee. Eric is responsible for leadership and oversight of the team’s strategies, spanning high yield, loans and investment grade credit. Before joining the Global Credit team, Eric served as a Managing Director on the MacKay High Yield team. Over his tenure at MacKay Shields, Eric has been active in credit analysis and portfolio construction, covering a wide array of industry sectors across the credit universe. Prior to joining MacKay Shields in 2010, he was a sell-side Analyst covering the telecommunications, cable and media sectors at Sterne Agee & Leach, Inc. Previously, he was an Analyst at BlackRock and a sell-side Analyst at Grantchester Securities where he was ranked by Institutional Investor as the #1 analyst in the wireless telecommunications sector for 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002. Eric received a BA from Vassar College and an MBA from New York University. He has been working in the investment industry since 1987.

Biography Gary is a Senior Managing Director and Head of the Fixed Income Division. Gary was previously a Senior Portfolio Manager at Loomis Sayles & Co. for seven years. He was a Managing Director at Bear Stearns and earlier in his career at Salomon Brothers. At Salomon Brothers, Gary was a Managing Director of High Yield Bonds for three years and a Managing Director of Global Bonds for two years. Gary has been in the investment management industry since 1975 and earned a MBA with distinction from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an AB from Dartmouth College.
