The investment objective of the Fund is to match the performance of the MSCI Japan Index, the Fund’s Benchmark Index. The Fund will invest in a portfolio of equity securities that as far as possible and practicable consist of the component securities of the Benchmark Index, in similar proportions as their weightings in the Benchmark Index. The Fund aims to replicate the composition of the Benchmark Index; however it may not always be possible or practicable to hold every security in their exact weighting as in the Benchmark Index.

Biography | Harvey Sidhu, Director, is a portfolio manager in BlackRock's Index Equity Portfolio Management Group, covering a range of iShares equity funds. Mr. Sidhu joined the iShares portfolio management team in January 2011. Prior to joining BlackRock, he was senior portfolio manager and head of index equity at HSBC Global Asset Management. During this time his responsibilities included the day-to-day management of HSBC's pooled and segregated passive funds tracking a broad range of developed and emerging market indices. Mr. Sidhu joined HSBC's Global Index team in 2005 from the firm's Global Research Group, where he worked for five years as a quantitative equity analyst. Mr. Sidhu's investment management career commenced at Rothschild Asset Management in 1996 where he joined as a graduate trainee. During this time his assignments included equity strategy analysis, research coverage of European defensive growth sectors and assistant fund manager. Biography | Nimish Patel, Managing Director and senior portfolio manager, is a member of BlackRock's Institutional Index Equity team. Mr. Patel's service with the firm dates back to 2006, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. At BGI, he served as a senior portfolio manager in the Institutional Index Equity team,. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing all strategic client portfolios. Prior to joining BGI, Mr. Patel was a portfolio manager in the Quantitative Management Group at Northern Trust Global Investments where he managed a broad range of portfolios including global index equity, global enhanced equity and indexed fixed income. Mr. Patel joined NTGI in 2003 following its acquisition of Deutsche Asset Management's Quant and Index business. Mr. Patel joined Deutsche Asset Management (formerly Morgan Grenfell Asset Management) in 1997. During his tenure at DeAM, Mr. Patel initially served as a Fund Manager's assistant for UK Active Equity before transitioning to the Quantitative Investment Group where he served as a Transition Manager and Portfolio Manager.
