Investment Strategy

The management company in selecting securities for the portfolio will seek to maximise income with stability and preservation of capital. In order to achieve these main objectives the Fund shall comprise a combination of investments in income generating assets including high yielding equity, bonds, fixed deposits, structured money market instruments, liseted debentures, listed property and financial instruments. The portfolio is however permitted to include investments in offshore jurisdictions subject to the investment conditions determined by the registrar from time to time.

Biography Guy Toms is Prescient's chief investment strategist and is widely respected in the investment management industry in the field of bond and derivative management. Guy is also responsible for fixed interest initiatives. Guy established Prescient Investment Management in August 1998, and he is a founder member, Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer Guy joined District Securities Bank at the end of 1993 where he was later appointed as a bank director and responsible for District Securities' bond management, derivative broking and trading operations. Prior to that, Guy was Bond Manager and responsible for all derivative exposure in the pension funds from 1991 to 1993 at Investec Asset Management. While at Investec he also managed the Metboard Gilt Fund, which remained consistently first in it's category throughout this period. Guy worked as Bond Analyst and Manager as well as Derivative Specialist at Colonial Mutual, Cape Gilt Investments - later renamed Corporate Portfolio Managers - and Southern Life. Biography Sara has three years of asset management and two years private equity experience with blue chip firms in South Africa and in Namibia. She has broad experience in equities research, investment analysis and portfolio management with regional and Namibia firms including RMB Asset Management, Pan Africa boutique firm LiquidAfrica and the Namibia Mineworkers Investment Company . Her experiences range from building financial models for listed and unlisted firms, sector allocation presentations, detailed client report backs and investment decision-making at investment committee meetings. In addition, new business development; forming partner brokerage agreements and client relationship management are part of her responsibilities and skills set. She is well versed with Africa securities databases, has strong valuation, administration experience, and trading expertise within markets across Africa including the NSE, NSE Kenya, NSX, JSE and JSE ALTX. Ms. Nangolo holds a B.Comm Management Sciences (Investment Management) from the University of Stellenbosch, in South Africa.
