Investment Strategy

The main investment objective of the sub-fund is to achieve an above average return by investing in a portfolio of small-sized companies in the European markets. At least 80% of the sub-fund’s assets are invested in shares and other equity securities of small-sized companies registered in a European country, or in companies that conduct their principal business activity in Europe or which, as holding companies, hold primarily interests in companies registered in Europe. Up to 20% of the sub-fund’s assets may be invested in: a) shares and other equity securities of companies of any size from around the world that do not fulfil the requirements of the preceding paragraph; b) interest-bearing securities, as well as convertible bonds and warrant-linked bonds that are issued by companies according to (2) or (a) above, and which are denominated in any freely convertible currency; c) short-term deposits, money market instruments and bank balances.

Biography	Philipp Schweneke joined DWS as member of the European Small/Mid Caps team at the beginning of 2009. He is responsible for the analysis of pan-European small and mid caps. In addition to his research, he is also responsible for the management of mutual funds and institutional mandates. He was portfolio manager for German and European small and mid caps from 2006 to 2008 at Sal. Oppenheim. Before that, he was a stock analyst at Dresdner Kleinwort and IT consultant for SAP-Software. His academic background: Master’s Degree (MA), University of Northumbria (Great Britain), and Bachelor of Business Administration, Accadis/International Business School, Bad Homburg
