Investment Strategy

To achieve capital growth over a period of five years or more through investment in markets both in the UK and overseas. Biography Ian is manager of the Cirilium Blend and Generation portfolio ranges. He joined the business in March 2020 from Seven Investment Management (7IM), where he was most recently deputy chief investment officer. He joined 7IM in 2016 as a senior investment manager, focusing on derivatives and alternatives within the multi-asset portfolios, and also co-managed the 7IM Real Return Fund. Ian started his career at Goldman Sachs, where he spent 15 years specialising in risk management and portfolio hedging strategies, before joining Citigroup where he was responsible for identifying strategic investment solutions for UK pension funds. Ian is a CFA Charterholder and has a degree in Physics from Oxford University.

Biography Hinesh Patel is a portfolio manager on the Cirilium Portfolios. He joined the business in 2008 working in fixed income and macro as strategist, an assistant portfolio manager and then a portfolio manager before joining the multi-asset desk in 2016. Hinesh has played an important role in developing the team’s investment capabilities and macroeconomics analysis. Before joining the business Hinesh was a senior analyst at Lehman Brothers. Hinesh is a CFA Charterholder and holds an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from Brunel University, including specialisms in automotive design and aeronautics. He holds the Investment Management Certificate and has completed the Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF) level 1.

Biography Paul is manager of the Cirilium and Cirilium Passive portfolio ranges. He joined the business in December 2014 from Henderson Global Investors, following the acquisition of Cirilium. Paul has managed the Cirilium portfolios since 2009, taking on these responsibilities shortly after the inception of the original range. He has more than 25 years of asset management experience and has also acted as a non-executive director of four investment trusts.

Biography Rasmus is a portfolio manager across the Cirilium portfolio ranges. Rasmus has more than 19 years of experience, joining the business in 2008 from ABN AMRO, having spent the majority of his career specialising in alternative asset classes, portfolio management and hedge fund analysis. Rasmus has played a pivotal role in developing the team’s alternative investment capabilities and is frequently invited to speak at alternative investment conferences and industry events. Rasmus holds an MSc in International Securities, Investment and Banking from the ICMA Centre, University of Reading, the Investment Management Certificate and is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).

Biography Simon Akroyd is the head of New Star’s private client department and leads the team that manages the New Star Intrinsic fund range. Simon has more than 20 years’ experience in the City and was fund director and head of the private unit trust desk at Cazenove before moving to Aberdeen Asset Management where he was managing director of the private portfolio management division.
