they report on oil rigs vs gas rigs - the intended product the well is going after.  This count was for oil rigs.  Basically you have to have a drilling rig on site and turning a bit to get counted...  it's not light re-work rigs and the like, it's about new, cased holed work...

"The Baker Hughes rig count is an important business barometer for the oil drilling industry. When drilling rigs are active they consume products and services produced by the oil service industry. Oil rigs are for producing oil, it is an indicator of supply.

Why do you people think drilling rigs in Texas, North Dakota, Colorado or else where would be shut down due to a tropical storm in the Gulf off Louisiana?

Oil rig count declining.  Production decline rates increasing, requiring more drilling to sustain production.  Operators under reporting active wells.  Initial production from wells flat or declining due to well interference.  But the Good Ol' Boys at EIA are saying production is increasing.  LMAO.

How can initial production be flat or declining?  That means production from a well is zero or negative? So that's where all that extra storage volume came from!  Whoop!

Yep, either false pressure gauge readings because of heat, fudged figures, incompetant record keeper, or reporting revisions in the current/first column of a new report.
