Consumer credit is defined as borrowing by the UK personal sector to finance current expenditure on goods and services. For consumer credit, the UK personal sector comprises individuals only, i.e. housing associations, incorporated businesses and other non-profit making bodies serving persons are excluded.
A higher than expected reading should be taken as positive/bullish for the GBP , while a lower than expected reading should be taken as negative/bearish for the GBP.
