BorgWarner, Inc. ( (NYSE:BWA) , reported that it has collaborated with China FAW Group Corporation (FAW) to offer its eGearDrive transmission system. This technology is featured in two electric vehicle (EV) models of FAW Group, namely Besturn B30EV and Junpai A70E.
Developed by BorgWarner, eGearDrive transmission caters to the growing needs of high-volume electric vehicles. The transmission system’s high torque capacity and competent helical gear train offer extensive driving range for electric vehicles. It also offers smooth and quiet performance at a speed of up to 14,000 rpm. Further, the device is available in a varied range of ratios which can be used for an array of electric motor sizes.
This recent development is not the first collaboration between the two companies. In the prior years, BorgWarner has supplied turbochargers, EGR modules and advanced transmission components to the FAW Group.
Earlier in January 2018, the company partnered with Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corporation to supply its HVH250 electric motor and eGearDrive transmission for the initial launch of the FUSO eCanter truck, which is world’s first all-electric light-duty truck.
Earlier in 2016, the company collaborated with another Chinese automaker, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, to supply its eGearDrive transmission for the development of latter’s first mass-produced electric vehicle namely EC7-EV sedan.
Michigan-based BorgWarner is a global leader in clean and efficient technology solutions required for combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles.
