We are proud to introduce our new database of mutual funds – more than 20,000 in all!
Mutual funds are often deemed “safer” than individual stock investments, since they consist of a diversified portfolio of securities, and are actively managed by professional fund managers, usually with the goal of beating the market – and inflation. Mutual funds also less expensive to enter than other capital markets due to the pool of people investing their money together.
For these reasons and more, mutual funds keep growing in popularity – especially to those newer to investing. Suffice it to say, that a mutual funds offering has been an oft-requested feature, and we’ve been working hard to provide the best product possible.
We have now added over 20,000 individual mutual funds to our database, each with its own general overview page and chart.
We have also designed three main mutual fund pages, each of which is user-friendly and full of useful information:
The page is further subdivided by sector, so you can browse mutual funds more heavily skewed towards specific instruments – stocks, commodities, or bonds.
The page also includes a filter, where you can search for funds by region/country, issuer, primary asset class, and two types of ratings systems.
The Morningstar Rating divides mutual funds into peer groups or categories and assigns each fund a score based on its risk-adjusted performance relative to its category. It’s a five-star rating system: funds in each category with the lowest risk-adjusted returns receive one star and funds in each category with the highest risk-adjusted returns receive five stars. The Morningstar Rating also takes into account the age of the fund.
The Risk Rating measures standard deviation, or in plain English, volatility. This is also a five-star rating system; the more volatile the fund the higher the number of stars.
Please note that the Mutual Funds page is localized to whichever language edition you are using. If you are using Investing.com, it will show you US-based funds; if you’re using the Canadian edition, it will show you Canadian funds, etc.
Monitoring your funds is made even easier since all the funds in our database can be added to your Watchlist or Holdings portfolios, and have our Price Alerts system fully enabled.
So please, enjoy our new mutual funds offering – and let us know what you think!
