Investing.com – Russia stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecom, Power and Oil and Gas sectors led shares higher while losses in the Manufacturing, Mining and Oil and Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the RTSI fell 2.04%, while the MICEX index gained 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the RTSI were NMTP (MCX:NMTP), which rose 11.16% or 0.1400 points to trade at 1.3950 at the close. Meanwhile, AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) added 8.77% or 1.350 points to end at 16.750 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) was up 4.58% or 1.79 points to 40.89 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which fell 4.63% or 3.800 points to trade at 78.200 at the close. Transneft (pref) (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 4.01% or 5590.0 points to end at 133810.0 and Surgut (MCX:SNGS) was down 2.39% or 0.790 points to 32.200.
The top performers on the MICEX were NMTP (MCX:NMTP) which rose 11.16% to 1.3950, AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) which was up 8.77% to settle at 16.750 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) which gained 4.58% to close at 40.89.
The worst performers were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) which was down 4.63% to 78.200 in late trade, Transneft (pref) (MCX:TRNF_p) which lost 4.01% to settle at 133810.0 and Surgut (MCX:SNGS) which was down 2.39% to 32.200 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 77 to 66 and 4 ended unchanged.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.26% or 3.30 to $1263.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 4.96% or 2.63 to hit $50.42 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 3.15% or 1.82 to trade at $56.09 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 3.51% to 67.434, while EUR/RUB rose 3.24% to 77.294.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 94.16.
