Investing.com – Russia stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Telecom and Oil and Gas sectors led shares higher while losses in the Manufacturing, Power and Oil and Gas sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the RTSI fell 2.48%, while the MICEX index gained 1.31%.

The best performers of the session on the RTSI were MTS (MCX:MTSS), which rose 5.96% or 11.50 points to trade at 204.50 at the close. Meanwhile, ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) added 5.40% or 3.400 points to end at 66.400 and DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) was up 4.63% or 17.20 points to 388.90 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which fell 4.77% or 0.0030 points to trade at 0.0605 at the close. Sberbank (MCX:SBER) declined 4.12% or 2.59 points to end at 60.31 and Sberbank (pref) (MCX:SBER_p) was down 3.75% or 1.59 points to 40.82.

The top performers on the MICEX were MTS (MCX:MTSS) which rose 5.96% to 204.50, ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) which was up 5.40% to settle at 66.400 and DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) which gained 4.63% to close at 388.90.

The worst performers were VTB (MCX:VTBR) which was down 4.77% to 0.0605 in late trade, Sberbank (MCX:SBER) which lost 4.12% to settle at 60.31 and Sberbank (pref) (MCX:SBER_p) which was down 3.75% to 40.82 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 77 to 65 and 6 ended unchanged.

Shares in ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) rose to all time highs; gaining 5.40% or 3.400 to 66.400. Shares in ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) rose to all time highs; gaining 5.40% or 3.400 to 66.400.

Gold for February delivery was up 0.41% or 5.10 to $1237.90 a troy ounce.
Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in February fell 0.80% or 0.37 to hit $45.70 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 2.78% or 1.35 to trade at $47.34 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 4.20% to 65.856, while EUR/RUB rose 3.85% to 77.602.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 92.40.
