Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia fell 0.64%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were MVideo (MCX:MVID), which rose 2.44% or 9.80 points to trade at 412.00 at the close. Meanwhile, NMTP (MCX:NMTP) added 2.44% or 0.1600 points to end at 6.7200 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) was up 1.74% or 19.20 points to 1120.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which fell 2.20% or 0.0009 points to trade at 0.0400 at the close. Surgut (MCX:SNGS) declined 2.17% or 0.620 points to end at 28.000 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) was down 2.06% or 1.80 points to 85.75.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 116 to 86 and 21 ended unchanged.
Shares in VTB (MCX:VTBR) fell to 3-years lows; losing 2.20% or 0.0009 to 0.0400. Shares in NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) rose to all time highs; up 1.74% or 19.20 to 1120.10.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 0.96% to 26.710.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.28% or 3.30 to $1202.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.13% or 0.79 to hit $69.08 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.86% or 0.67 to trade at $77.50 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.17% to 68.2308, while EUR/RUB rose 0.52% to 79.2938.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 95.11.
