Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Power and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia fell 0.59%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were GMK Norilskiy Nikel PAO (MCX:GMKN), which rose 1.84% or 2.60 points to trade at 141.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Polyus PAO (MCX:PLZL) added 1.11% or 138.50 points to end at 12,598.50 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) was up 1.08% or 45.00 points to 4,204.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK), which fell 1.83% or 19.40 points to trade at 1,038.40 at the close. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) declined 1.39% or 1.04 points to end at 73.65 and Unipro (MCX:UPRO) was down 1.38% or 0.03 points to 1.93.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 159 to 88 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.83% or 19.40 to 1,038.40.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 5.39% to 23.87.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.83% or 19.60 to $2,395.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.16% or 1.60 to hit $75.67 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $79.99 a barrel.
USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 88.84, while EUR/RUB rose 0.01% to 97.28.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 104.07.
