Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Power and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia lost 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which rose 3.21% or 0.0017 points to trade at 0.0547 at the close. Meanwhile, Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 1.74% or 2.60 points to end at 152.00 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) was up 1.59% or 38.00 points to 2427.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL), which fell 2.99% or 1.130 points to trade at 36.600 at the close. NMTP (MCX:NMTP) declined 2.86% or 0.2300 points to end at 7.8200 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) was down 2.51% or 4600 points to 178600.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 124 to 75 and 25 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 2.95% to 22.040.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.65% or 8.70 to $1326.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.52% or 1.58 to hit $61.02 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.30% or 1.51 to trade at $64.28 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.45% to 56.9175, while EUR/RUB rose 0.44% to 70.6147.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 89.65.
