Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecom, Power and Oil and Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the RTSI fell 4.83%, while the MICEX index lost 1.76%.
The best performers of the session on the RTSI were Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which rose 4.97% or 29.15 points to trade at 616.15 at the close. Meanwhile, NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) added 4.20% or 3.34 points to end at 82.84 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) was up 3.92% or 23.00 points to 610.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sberbank (pref) (MCX:SBER_p), which fell 6.66% or 3.06 points to trade at 42.88 at the close. Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) declined 6.20% or 0.0489 points to end at 0.7400 and Sberbank (MCX:SBER) was down 6.14% or 3.96 points to 60.49.
The top performers on the MICEX were Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) which rose 4.97% to 616.15, NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) which was up 4.20% to settle at 82.84 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) which gained 3.92% to close at 610.00.
The worst performers were Sberbank (pref) (MCX:SBER_p) which was down 6.66% to 42.88 in late trade, Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) which lost 6.20% to settle at 0.7400 and Sberbank (MCX:SBER) which was down 6.14% to 60.49 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 105 to 30 and 9 ended unchanged.

Gold for April delivery was down 0.99% or 12.80 to $1280.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 0.15% or 0.07 to hit $45.66 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.10 to trade at $48.70 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 3.48% to 66.355, while EUR/RUB rose 4.09% to 74.846.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 95.06.
