Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 2.05%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 5.41% or 8.00 points to trade at 155.75 at the close. Meanwhile, United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) added 5.30% or 2.150 points to end at 42.700 and VTB (MCX:VTBR) was up 4.61% or 0.0022 points to 0.0495 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL), which fell 2.81% or 129.0 points to trade at 4466.0 at the close. MVideo (MCX:MVID) declined 1.73% or 7.20 points to end at 407.80 and DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) was down 0.71% or 2.30 points to 322.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 151 to 64 and 14 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 4.01% to 17.230.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.16% or 2.10 to $1318.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.84% or 1.11 to hit $61.48 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.62% or 1.08 to trade at $67.65 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.62% to 57.2542, while EUR/RUB fell 0.50% to 68.9000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 91.78.
