Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Power, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia gained 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX:SFIN), which rose 7.09% or 43.4 points to trade at 655.4 at the close. Meanwhile, Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 6.46% or 6.60 points to end at 108.80 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) was up 3.91% or 3.62 points to 96.12 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON), which fell 1.77% or 10.30 points to trade at 573.00 at the close. Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) declined 1.63% or 8.70 points to end at 523.70 and Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK) was down 1.01% or 0.60 points to 59.05.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 119 to 97 and 16 ended unchanged.
Shares in Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.01% or 0.60 to 59.05.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 0.70% to 25.420 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.59% or 7.20 to $1228.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.50% or 1.87 to hit $55.30 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.25% or 1.41 to trade at $63.94 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.77% to 65.6581, while EUR/RUB fell 0.50% to 74.8668.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 96.500.
