Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Power, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia gained 0.50% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 3.67% or 3.70 points to trade at 104.60 at the close. Meanwhile, AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) added 3.56% or 0.375 points to end at 10.901 and Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL) was up 3.10% or 181.0 points to 6029.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM), which fell 1.82% or 1.47 points to trade at 79.19 at the close. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) declined 1.68% or 2.70 points to end at 157.68 and Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK) was down 1.13% or 0.70 points to 61.32.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 110 to 107 and 20 ended unchanged.
Shares in AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.56% or 0.375 to 10.901. Shares in Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL) rose to all time highs; up 3.10% or 181.0 to 6029.0.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 2.33% to 21.080.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.82% or 11.55 to $1419.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.84% or 0.47 to hit $56.72 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.33% or 0.83 to trade at $63.23 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.08% to 63.3646, while EUR/RUB rose 0.08% to 71.4738.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 96.328.
