Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil and Gas, Telecom and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the RTSI rose 4.48%, while the MICEX index gained 2.99%.
The best performers of the session on the RTSI were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 7.68% or 0.970 points to trade at 13.600 at the close. Meanwhile, MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) added 7.60% or 73.00 points to end at 1033.00 and Bashneft ANK ap (pref) (MCX:BANE_p) was up 7.42% or 79.0 points to 1143.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which fell 1.00% or 6.00 points to trade at 596.00 at the close. Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) added 0.11% or 0.10 points to end at 87.60 and VTB (MCX:VTBR) was up 0.19% or 0.0001 points to 0.0636.
The top performers on the MICEX were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) which rose 7.68% to 13.600, MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) which was up 7.60% to settle at 1033.00 and Bashneft ANK ap (pref) (MCX:BANE_p) which gained 7.42% to close at 1143.0.
The worst performers were Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) which was down 1.00% to 596.00 in late trade, Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) which gained 0.11% to settle at 87.60 and VTB (MCX:VTBR) which was up 0.19% to 0.0636 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 107 to 41 and 6 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.68% or 8.80 to $1302.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 2.99% or 1.43 to hit $46.35 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 0.93% or 0.46 to trade at $48.58 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.50% to 64.410, while EUR/RUB fell 3.18% to 73.422.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.12% at 94.05.
