Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil and Gas, Mining and Telecom sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the RTSI rose 3.42%, while the MICEX index gained 3.00%.
The best performers of the session on the RTSI were MVideo (MCX:MVID), which rose 9.51% or 12.20 points to trade at 140.50 at the close. Meanwhile, ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) added 7.75% or 5.500 points to end at 76.500 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) was up 7.00% or 18.00 points to 275.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX), which fell 3.48% or 39.00 points to trade at 1083.00 at the close. Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) declined 2.41% or 240.0 points to end at 9730.0 and Pharmstandard JSC (MCX:PHST) was down 1.44% or 15.0 points to 1045.0.
The top performers on the MICEX were MVideo (MCX:MVID) which rose 9.51% to 140.50, ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) which was up 7.75% to settle at 76.500 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) which gained 7.00% to close at 275.00.
The worst performers were Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) which was down 3.48% to 1083.00 in late trade, Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) which lost 2.41% to settle at 9730.0 and Pharmstandard JSC (MCX:PHST) which was down 1.44% to 1045.0 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 89 to 50 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) rose to all time highs; rising 7.75% or 5.500 to 76.500. Shares in Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) rose to all time highs; rising 7.00% or 18.00 to 275.00. Gold for February delivery was down 0.32% or 4.20 to $1290.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 2.75% or 1.28 to hit $47.75 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 1.89% or 0.91 to trade at $48.90 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.43% to 65.370, while EUR/RUB rose 0.48% to 75.745.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 93.16.
