Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Banks, Industrial Transportation and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.70%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Credit Agricole (PARIS:CAGR), which rose 5.56% or 0.630 points to trade at 11.965 at the close. Meanwhile, Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) added 5.08% or 0.46 points to end at 9.58 and Societe Generale (PARIS:SOGN) was up 4.05% or 1.50 points to 38.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA), which fell 1.18% or 0.041 points to trade at 3.428 at the close. L'Oreal (PARIS:OREP) declined 1.17% or 1.85 points to end at 156.05 and Lafarge (PARIS:LAFP) was down 0.86% or 0.56 points to 64.34.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Aperam (AMS:APAM) which rose 14.43% to 29.77, Nexans (PARIS:NEXS) which was up 12.70% to settle at 32.74 and Credit Agricole (PARIS:CAGR) which gained 5.56% to close at 11.965.
The worst performers were Edenred (PARIS:EDEN) which was down 2.48% to 24.34 in late trade, Air France KLM SA (PARIS:AIRF) which lost 2.26% to settle at 7.174 and STMicroelectronics (PARIS:STM) which was down 2.12% to 7.790 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 507 to 404 and 52 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.38% to 21.85.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.81% or 9.90 to $1230.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 3.40% or 1.74 to hit $52.95 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 3.57% or 2.12 to trade at $61.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1404, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.7408.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 94.19.
