Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banks, Electronic Equipment and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.16% to hit a new 3-month high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.01%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale (PARIS:SOGN), which rose 4.26% or 1.49 points to trade at 36.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) added 3.40% or 0.28 points to end at 8.59 and Alstom (PARIS:ALSO) was up 3.10% or 0.82 points to 27.41 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Technip (PARIS:TECF), which fell 1.18% or 0.56 points to trade at 47.16 at the close. Safran (PARIS:SAF) declined 0.77% or 0.43 points to end at 55.74 and Lafarge (PARIS:LAFP) was down 0.62% or 0.37 points to 59.06.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Air France KLM SA (PARIS:AIRF) which rose 4.80% to 7.797, Societe Generale (PARIS:SOGN) which was up 4.26% to settle at 36.35 and Orpea (PARIS:ORP) which gained 3.53% to close at 54.48.
The worst performers were Technicolor (PARIS:TCH) which was down 4.95% to 4.837 in late trade, Ipsen (PARIS:IPN) which lost 3.01% to settle at 43.50 and Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which was down 1.96% to 19.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 497 to 397 and 54 ended unchanged.
Shares in Orpea (PARIS:ORP) rose to all time highs; rising 3.53% or 1.86 to 54.48.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.95% to 25.15.
Gold for February delivery was up 1.46% or 18.70 to $1295.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 3.44% or 1.69 to hit $47.44 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.14 to trade at $48.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.43% to 1.1555, while EUR/GBP fell 0.76% to 0.7622.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 93.28.
