Investing.com - Investor confidence in the euro zone for August deteriorated to the lowest level in 12 months, underlining concerns over the outlook for the region’s economy, data showed on Monday.
In a report, market research group, Sentix said its index of investor confidence tumbled to 2.7 this month, the lowest since August 2013, from a reading of 10.1 in July. Analysts had expected the index to decline to 9.0 in August.
On the index, a level above 0.0 indicates optimism, below indicates pessimism.
Following the release of the data, the euro held on to modest losses against the U.S. dollar, with EUR/USD easing down 0.03% to trade at 1.3425.
Meanwhile, European stock markets remained mixed. The DJ Euro Stoxx 50 inched up 0.1%, France’s CAC 40 advanced 0.25%, Germany's DAX dropped 0.4%, while London’s FTSE 100 tacked on 0.1%.
