The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite gave up 0.02%.
Weekly initial jobless claims fell more than expected to 262,000.
Walmart (NYSE:WMT) was up 2.4% at $74.69 after Q2 earnings beat forecasts.
Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) was down 1.3% at $30.32 after announcing 5,500 job cuts.
