Investing.com – Turkey stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Sports, Transport and Basic Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 lost 1.68% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the BIST 100 were Ege Endustri ve Ticaret AS (IS:EGEEN), which rose 4.43% or 18.30 points to trade at 431.00 at the close. Meanwhile, ENKA Insaat ve Sanayi AS (IS:ENKAI) added 3.70% or 0.180 points to end at 5.040 and Flap Kongre Toplanti Hizmetleri Otomotiv ve Turizm AS (IS:FLAP) was up 3.56% or 0.090 points to 2.620 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Galatasaray Sportif Sinai ve Ticari Yatirimlar AS (IS:GSRAY), which fell 11.04% or 0.17 points to trade at 1.37 at the close. Albaraka Turk Katilim Bankasi AS (IS:ALBRK) declined 6.72% or 0.080 points to end at 1.110 and Gentas Genel Metal Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (IS:GENTS) was down 4.67% or 0.070 points to 1.430.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Istanbul Stock Exchange by 288 to 78 and 41 ended unchanged.
Shares in Albaraka Turk Katilim Bankasi AS (IS:ALBRK) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.72% or 0.080 to 1.110. Shares in Gentas Genel Metal Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (IS:GENTS) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.67% or 0.070 to 1.430.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.33% or 4.25 to $1273.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.51% or 0.32 to hit $62.89 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.33% or 0.24 to trade at $71.73 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 0.59% to 6.0543, while EUR/TRY rose 0.51% to 6.7561.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 97.882.
