Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Hotels, Financials and Transport sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475), which rose 9.93% or 2.10 points to trade at 23.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Tong Hsing Electronic Industries Ltd (TW:6271) added 9.87% or 11.50 points to end at 128.00 and Uniflex Technology Inc (TW:3321) was up 9.75% or 1.15 points to 12.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512), which fell 9.87% or 1.50 points to trade at 13.70 at the close. Powertech Industrial Co Ltd (TW:3296) declined 9.86% or 2.05 points to end at 18.75 and Holiday Entertainment Co Ltd (TW:9943) was down 7.21% or 4.00 points to 51.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 387 to 350 and 143 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) rose to 3-years highs; up 9.93% or 2.10 to 23.25.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.47% or 0.21 to $44.95 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.34% or 0.16 to hit $47.70 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.22% or 2.80 to trade at $1251.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.12% to 30.393, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2232.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 95.60.
