Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE), which rose 1.88% or 58.0 points to trade at 3149.0 at the close. Meanwhile, MVideo (MCX:MVID) added 1.82% or 5.80 points to end at 325.00 and ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) was up 1.29% or 25.0 points to 1970.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which fell 2.78% or 22.70 points to trade at 793.30 at the close. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) declined 2.65% or 2.50 points to end at 91.76 and Lukoil (MCX:LKOH) was down 2.42% or 68.0 points to 2738.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 119 to 100 and 23 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.88% or 58.0 to 3149.0.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.04% to 28.270.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.37% or 5.05 to $1351.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.75% or 0.75 to hit $42.02 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.49% or 0.67 to trade at $44.31 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.27% to 64.6013, while EUR/RUB rose 0.17% to 72.168.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.48% at 95.60.
