Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 1.22%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which rose 2.86% or 2.400 points to trade at 86.400 at the close. Meanwhile, Magnit (MCX:MGNT) added 2.12% or 100.0 points to end at 4825.0 and Akron (MCX:AKRN) was up 1.66% or 69.0 points to 4229.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NK Rosneft PAO (MCX:ROSN), which fell 2.78% or 9.35 points to trade at 326.65 at the close. Gazprom PAO (MCX:GAZP) declined 2.70% or 3.80 points to end at 137.20 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) was down 2.40% or 9.70 points to 395.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 115 to 85 and 23 ended unchanged.
Shares in Akron (MCX:AKRN) rose to all time highs; rising 1.66% or 69.0 to 4229.0.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 3.46% to 23.610 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.31% or 4.10 to $1318.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.42% or 0.88 to hit $60.91 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.16% or 0.76 to trade at $64.75 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.01% to 58.1938, while EUR/RUB rose 0.78% to 71.2189.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 90.25.
