Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia lost 1.00%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Lukoil (MCX:LKOH), which rose 0.71% or 41.0 points to trade at 5850.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Detskiy Mir PAO (MCX:DSKY) added 0.18% or 0.16 points to end at 88.66 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) was up 0.16% or 1.20 points to 738.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NPK OVK PAO (MCX:UWGN), which fell 4.72% or 22.0 points to trade at 444.4 at the close. NK RussNeft PAO (MCX:RNFT) declined 4.44% or 26.6 points to end at 572.4 and Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX:SFIN) was down 3.66% or 18.8 points to 495.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 155 to 76 and 15 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lukoil (MCX:LKOH) rose to all time highs; rising 0.71% or 41.0 to 5850.0. Shares in Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX:SFIN) fell to all time lows; falling 3.66% or 18.8 to 495.0.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 3.22% to 22.240.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.39% or 5.15 to $1316.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.77% or 0.46 to hit $59.48 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.20 to trade at $67.23 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.66% to 64.8155, while EUR/RUB rose 0.47% to 72.9303.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 96.407.
