Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Power and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia fell 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were NK RussNeft PAO (MCX:RNFT), which rose 5.89% or 31.1 points to trade at 558.7 at the close. Meanwhile, Yevroplan PAO (MCX:EPLN) added 5.88% or 42.5 points to end at 765.0 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) was up 2.06% or 0.190 points to 9.415 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which fell 5.14% or 0.0025 points to trade at 0.0459 at the close. RusHydro JSC (MCX:HYDR) declined 4.70% or 0.0353 points to end at 0.7165 and Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) was down 4.38% or 0.0372 points to 0.8118.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 150 to 76 and 20 ended unchanged.
Shares in VTB (MCX:VTBR) fell to 3-years lows; falling 5.14% or 0.0025 to 0.0459. Shares in RusHydro JSC (MCX:HYDR) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.70% or 0.0353 to 0.7165.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 4.83% to 16.290.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.32% or 4.10 to $1268.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.61% or 0.35 to hit $57.91 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0.37 to trade at $64.17 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.14% to 58.6921, while EUR/RUB rose 0.13% to 69.7150.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 92.89.
